After the movies, it’s time for a live-action series for Scooby-Doo. As announced by Netflix, the streaming platform will soon offer a new live-action series that will take us to the origins of the entire Mystery, Inc. gang.
In the eight-episode series, we’ll follow Sammy and Daphne during their last summer at camp as they become embroiled in an intriguing mystery involving a Great Dane puppy who may have witnessed a supernatural murder. With the help of Velma, a pragmatic and scientist townie, and Freddy, a strange but attractive newcomer, they set out to solve the case, even as it leads them into a terrifying nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.
Netflix VP Peter Friedlander promises to “delighting longtime fans” while opening up this “world of groovy adventures for a new era of meddling kids.” To deliver on that promise, the streaming platform has decided to entrust its Scooby-Doo series to Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, a duo that previously worked on Citadelle, Zoo and October Road. They will be joined on the production side by Greg Berlanti, an adaptation veteran whose credits include Riverdale, Flash, Arrow and Supergirl.
