Will Pulse, Netflix’s first original English-language medical series, be a success when it launches on April 3, 2025? It’s too early to tell, but the trailer released by the streaming platform has everything that makes medical dramas so successful: romantic tension, unspeakable secrets, and conflicts between healthcare professionals.

As a reminder, the Pulse series will take us into the heart of Miami’s busiest trauma center as it goes on lockdown after a hurricane hits the city. Over the course of the 10 episodes that make up Season 1, we’ll follow Dr. Danny Simms (Willa Fitzgerald), a resident thrust into a key position after the suspension of her department head, Dr. Xander Phillips (Colin Woodell). She must learn to work with him, even as explosive revelations about their forbidden romance begin to emerge.

Created by Zoe Robyn, Pulse will explore the flaws of each character as they face impossible choices. “Because for this tight-knit group of doctors, saving their patients’ lives is often less complicated than living their own,” the Netflix press release emphasizes. A dilemma embodied by Danny and Phillips, whose complex and illicit relationship erupts at the worst possible moment, threatening both their careers and the cohesion of their team.

In addition to Willa Fitzgerald (Scream) and Colin Woodell (The Flight Attendant), the first season of the Pulse series will feature Justina Machado (One Day at a Time), Jack Bannon (Pennyworth), Arturo Del Puerto (Big Sky), Jessie T. Usher (The Boys), Chelsea Muirhead (Warrior), Daniela Nieves (Teen Witch), Jessy Yates (Me), Néstor Carbonell (The Morning Show), Ash Santos (Mayor of Kingstown), Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day) and Santiago Segura (Scream).
