A few months after announcing the official development of Spartacus: House of Ashur, a new series set in the Spartacus universe, Starz is lining up new names to play with Nick Tarabay. According to Deadline, eight actors and actresses are joining the cast of the series created by Steven S. DeKnight, the creator of the original program.
Currently in production in New Zealand, Spartacus: House of Ashur will answer the following questions: “What if Ashur hadn’t died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of ‘Spartacus: Vengeance’? And what if he had been gifted the gladiator school once owned by Batiatus in return for aiding the Romans in killing Spartacus and putting an end to the slave rebellion?” Hypothetical questions that will be explored in this new Spartacus series, featuring Graham McTavish (Outlander, House of the Dragon), Tenika Davis (Jupiter’s Legacy, Beacon 23), Jamaica Vaughan (Summer Bat, 800 Words), Ivana Baquero (The Shannara Chronicles, Alta Mar), Jordi Webber (Summer Bay, Power Rangers), Claudia Black (Farscape, Stargate SG-1), India Shaw-Smith (Vanity Fair) and Leigh Gill (Joker, Game of Thrones).
Graham McTavish will play Korris, a former gladiator who won his freedom in the arena and is now in charge of training the gladiators of Ashur’s Ludus. Tenika Davis will play Achillia, a gladiator driven to surpass her male counterparts, while Jamaica Vaughan will play Hilara, a young slave girl who is deeply in love with Ashur. Ivana Baquero will play Messia, one of Hilara’s slaves, while Jordi Webber will take on the role of Tarchon, a brash and headstrong gladiator. Claudia Black will play Cossutia, a politician who constantly plots against Ashur to bring him down, while India Shaw-Smith will play Viridia, Cossutia’s daughter. Finally, Leigh Gill will play Satyrus, the leader of a rival Ludus.
The first season of Spartacus: House of Ashur will consist of 10 episodes. No air date has been announced.
