While casting announcements have yet to be made, the Harry Potter series, now set to air on HBO, has taken another step forward in its development by finding its director and screenwriter. As Warner Bros. Discovery announced in a press release, the series adaptation of JK Rowling‘s work has been entrusted to two small screen regulars: Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod. Both are best known for their work on the critically and commercially acclaimed HBO series Succession.
Francesca Gardiner will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer on the Harry Potter series. In addition to Succession, she is known for her work as a producer and writer on Killing Eve, His Dark Materials, The Rook and The Man in the High Castle.
Mark Mylod, for his part, will direct several episodes of the series and also executive produce the HBO program. On the small screen, he is known for producing or directing episodes of Shameless, Entourage and Game of Thrones. On the big screen, he made an impact in 2022 with his film The Menu, starring Ralph Fiennes, who also portrayed Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter saga.
The Harry Potter series, which will be released on HBO in 2026, will now be able to search for actors to play Harry, Ron and Hermione. In the meantime, you can still watch the movies in their entirety on the MAX platform.
