A few weeks after renewing 8 series for the 2025-2026 season, CBS is starting to clean up its schedule to accommodate new programs. To do so, the American network has decided to cancel three of its series: S.W.A.T., FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International. Bad news for all fans of crime series.

Third cancellation for S.W.A.T.

Cancelled by CBS in 2023 and 2024, S.W.A.T. was finally saved in extremis by the American network. This year, the fate of the show starring Shemar Moore seems to have been sealed due to low ratings. Since moving to a new time slot, S.W.A.T. has averaged only 4.9 million viewers per week. Not enough for network executives.

Following the cancellation, showrunner Andrew Dettman said: “It’s heartbreaking news, primarily because it’s been such an immense pleasure working with this cast and crew to put out a show that we’ve always been proud of. […] I feel so privileged to have been a part of the S.W.A.T. family”.

A satisfying ending for FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International?

FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International, which launched in 2020 and 2021, respectively, will not return to the CBS schedule in 2025-2026. The decision will come as a surprise to some, as the two FBI spin-offs still draw 6.5 million viewers each week, despite a decline from previous seasons.

With FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International still in production, their creative teams may have time to adjust future episode scripts to bring the series to a satisfactory conclusion should they not be acquired by other platforms.
