Good news for fans of pop culture and comics: the excitement and magic of San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) is about to take over Europe. For the first time in its history, the event will set foot outside the United States, with Malaga, Spain set to host the first European edition of SDCC. The announcement was made on Monday, March 10, 2025, in the presence of 200 guests from the world of film, television and comics.

Organized by IMG Licensing, San Diego Comic-Con Malaga will take place over four days, from Thursday, September 25 to Sunday, September 28, 2025, the same period as the American event. Panels, autograph sessions, screenings and cosplay are all part of SDCC, and pop culture fans are already hoping for some big name guests for what could become a must-attend event in Europe.

Following the official announcement of San Diego Comic-Con Malaga, David Glanzer, SDCC’s Director of Communications and Strategy, made no secret of his excitement: “We’re very excited to celebrate comics and the popular arts and share Comic-Con’s unique spirit, with audiences in Europe. We couldn’t have found a more vibrant, welcoming, and creative city to begin this exciting new chapter for fans and creators.” Malaga will host the first three editions of the European SDCC through 2027.
