The unexpected/unlikely returns continue for Scream 7. After confirming that Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley will be joining the cast of the Kevin Williamson-directed film, Spyglass and Paramount Pictures have decided to bring in another familiar face from the franchise.
As revealed by Deadline, David Arquette will be returning for the seventh movie, even though his character Dewey Riley met an unfortunate fate in Scream 5. As was the case with the return of Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley, the presence of David Arquette in the credits of Scream 7 raises a number of questions. Will the actor be playing a new character or will he be playing Dewey in flashbacks or hallucinations like Skeet Ulrich did in the previous two films? We’ll have to be patient to find out, as Scream 7 won’t be released until 2026.
While many questions remain unanswered for now, we do know that David Arquette will be sharing the Scream 7 poster with some familiar faces from the franchise. Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott), Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers), Mason Gooding (Chad Meeks-Martin) and Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy Meeks-Martin) will all be reprising their roles in this new chapter of Scream.
