Kathryn Newton, previously seen in Abigail by directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, rejoins the duo for the sequel to Ready or Not. She will be reunited with Samara Weaving, the heroine of the first film, whose character made a lasting impression as she struggled to survive her very special wedding night.
Released in 2019 with an estimated budget of $6 million, Ready or Not was an unexpected box office success, earning nearly $58 million worldwide. So it’s no surprise that Searchlight, the studio that produced the film, is looking to capitalize on that success with a sequel.
While Kathryn Newton‘s role and the script for Ready or Not 2 are not yet known, we do know that it will be co-written by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, a duo who previously penned the story for the first film. Will this sequel introduce a new macabre family tradition or will it pick up where the Le Domas family left off? We’ll have to wait the next few months to find out, but one thing’s for sure: we’re in for another tasty mix of dark humor, hemoglobin, and suspense.
