DC fans have been waiting impatiently for this trailer, and it’s finally here. This Wednesday, December 19, Warner Bros. Studios finally unveiled the first images from the next Superman movie, directed by James Gunn and scheduled for release in July 2025.
Played by David Corenswet, this new Superman is presented from the beginning, defeated and bloodied, as he comes crashing down in the middle of the Arctic region. The viewer’s curiosity is immediately piqued, who could have messed up Superman like that?
Apart from the expected presence of Lois Lane and Lex Luthor, played by Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) and Nicholas Hoult (Nosferatu, Mad Max Fury Road, X-Men), this trailer is full of surprises.
Many DC characters can be seen, including Hawkgirl, Guy Gardner (Green Lantern), Mister Terrific and Krypto, Superman’s faithful companion in the comics. The Fortress of Solitude and the Stagg Industries building, a reference to DC villain Simon Stagg, will not be missed by the most avid fans.
One thing is for sure, this adaptation promises a fresh take on the Kryptonian hero while honoring previous adaptations, as James Gunn recently discussed in an interview with online magazine Deadline. The stakes are high, as this Superman will usher in a new era for DC, after a decade of films that haven’t all met with the expected success…
